{a different kind of wishful wednesday}

Before I start...

My friend tweeted this yesterday afternoon: if one of your three vacation homes got ruined by sandy, yea it sucks, but some peoples ONLY homes got destroyed.

I know I've been tweeting & blogging about how upset I am about our beach house & the island, but please know that I aware of the fact that many people have lost their only home. I admittedly have gotten wrapped up in thinking about my own, but know that other people's {worse} situations are also on the forefront of my mind.

Thanks Kerby for reminding me of that!
I don't want any material goods this week. No cute sweater or relaxing vacation is meaningful when Sandy is still creating havoc.

My wish?  All I want is for this storm to stop & for the rebuilding process to begin. There's a long road ahead & I hope it starts as quickly & smoothly as possible.

Please continue to send thoughts & prayers to those affected. & if you are able & willing...please donate to any of the relief efforts.

Stay safe & have a Happy Halloween!

{some pics from my weekend}

On Saturday, I spent the day here:

The day started off so foggy...but then became beautiful.

I followed these girls around all day. We filmed interviews, candids, & some b-roll.

They are twins. So they obviously rocked my socks.

The footage we got was GREAT. The video is going to look awesome!
Classes were cancelled for today. As exciting as this's also nerve-wracking. I stocked up on food & water, but I'm nervous about flooding. My hometown is getting slammed {& it'll be a miracle if our poor beach house makes it through}, so I pray Sandy doesn't do too much damage.

East Coasters...stay safe!!!

{how you know you're a celiac}

I'm off to Concord, NH for the day!  I'm shooting a movie for my Campaign class. The photo above is my camera bag suitcase -- I'm bringing everything I could possibly need :)

We're headed to a the very opposite of the city. It'll be nice to be in the country for a few hours! I'm ready to douse myself in New England fall. Hurricane Sandy isn't supposed to "hit" us until tomorrow, so sunshine is the only thing on the forecast for today. Thankfully.

I don't know what's in the town--& I didn't want to assume the family would serve us lunch--so I saved myself the stress & packed my lunch.

Oh, to be a Celiac ;)

I'll be sure to show you any good pics from the day. Happy Saturday!

{fashion friday: spotlight on c.wonder}

For today's Fashion Friday, I'm spotlighting C.Wonder, a new store created by Chris Burch {ex-husband of Tory Burch}.

I was able to visit the only West Coast location {Fashion Island} while I was in California & I was overwhelmed by everything they make.

A friend once told me that I dress very preppy. I both agree & disagree with that statement. I think if you shop at J.Crew, you have a little bit of prep' in ya :)  & a lot of my clothes come from there. But it's a muted preppy.

C.Wonder is preppy to the MAX, so I can only take it in very small doses.  It's also pretty expensive. But it's colorful, feminine, & flirty. & they make everything!

Here are my favorite picks from their site:

Zebra iPhone Case...simple, but cute.

Contrast Sweater Dress...I love the booties with it!

Suede Signature Driving Moccasins...perfect color for fall!

Skinny Stretch Cord...cords are my fall staple.

Classic Belted Camel favorite on the whole site!

You can visit their site here.  Are you a fan?
A fashion do & a fashion don't.

Tights + cord skirt + booties = yes.
Running shorts + high socks + moccasins = NO.

Happy Weekend!

{DIY autumn felt wreath}

DIY Felt Wreath

I'd been looking for an autumn wreath for the past few weeks, since our front door needed a little sprucing up. With Halloween around the corner, I wanted to make our little stoop look a bit more welcoming :)

I can't take credit for this project. I searched "autumn wreath" on Pinterest {which I go on every few months} & I was brought to this site. At the first pic, I knew I found it.  I could make it myself, I could choose the colors, & it was really cute :)

Since there aren't many craft stores in Boston, I ordered a pack of multi-colored felt & a wreath online. {Jo-Ann's Fabric}. The total was around $20 & I was able to use a coupon. { is the best!}

Here's how you make it:

1. Trace felt circles. I used a CD for the big roses & the inside of a tape roll for the smaller ones.

2. Cut out the circles.

3. Cut each circle into a spiral. It doesn't have to be perfect!

4. Now it's time to roll the rose! Dab a dot of hot glue after each "wrap" to secure it. You don't have to do this--you can just glue the final wrap--but I was convinced it was going to come undone.  You can start at the middle spiral or the doesn't matter.

I made about 40 roses, which took around an hour.

5.  I placed the roses on the wreath until I figured out what I liked best. I decided to only do one side of the wreath, mainly because I ran out of felt, but I can always go back & add more! :)

Once you choose your layout, hot-glue each rose to the wreath.

VoilĂ !

Perfect for fall!

It was so easy!  & very inexpensive. The whole project cost under $20. You can't beat that!

I love it so much I may even do a spring wreath come March. Can you imagine this with bright colors? I can!

Happy Wednesday!

My little getaway to Chicago was so fun...& much needed :)

Gluten-free readers!  If you're in Chicago, you must eat at Tweet.  At night it turns into a gay bar {the artwork was...interesting}...but in the morning?

GLUTEN-FREE BELGIAN WAFFLES. & the best cup bowl of cocoa you've ever had.

So good.

On Thursday & Friday, it was rainy & miserable out. But on Saturday the weather turned glorious! So we immediately left the apartment & wandered around the city.

We visited the Bean.

& walked around Millennium Park.

For brunch on Sunday, we went to Tempo CafĂ© with Dylan's friends from her Rome semester. {Shelby & was so great to finally meet you!}

Any omelette that comes out in the pan you know is going to be amazing.

Last night Dylan & I went up on her rooftop deck to get pics of the sunset. It was unreal.  Cross my heart...I did absolutely no editing. These are all straight from the camera!

Her view is unbelievable!

I was so happy to go back to Chicago, since it's on my post-grad list of cities. It's been about two years since the last time I visited & I love it JUST as much.  It's clean, quiet, full of things to do & places to see. I highly recommend going :)  Not only was it fun to walk see Dylan, but I was able to meet the rest of her friends. Such a great group of people! She really picked good ones.

Thanks for being my host Dylan! Let's hope I don't go two more years before visiting again....
